Structure Evaluation Engineers, Inc.
(SEE) was retained to perform a
full scale load testing at the second floor of the Royce Restaurant and Banquets to determine the
adequacy of floor construction for the building code load requirements. The as-built condition was
different from the original drawings. Hence, It was recommended to perform load testing to
determine the structural adequacy of the second floor composite deck and
beams.
SEE
selected two critical bays and performed a full scale load testing per National Building Code
requirements for the in-situ load tests. The test area was approximately 34 feet by 40 feet.
SEE installed deflection gauges at various
locations to measure and study the response of the floor deck, beams, columns, and
connections during loading and recovery periods. SEE
issued a comprehensive report that outlined the testing procedures, test results,
and whether the floor construction met the building code
requirements.
